Courtnin 86 Posted December 20, 2012 Has anyone ever become lactose intolerant after the band? I'm 4.5 weeks post op now and the past couple weeks I seem to vomit up anything with a trace of dairy in it. I've never been sensitive to it before.
Minna 1 Posted December 20, 2012 I am 5 days post op and have been having very bad reactions to dairy as well. It is causing very bad gas. I think this is so strange cause I was fine before surgery...
daisychains7 427 Posted December 20, 2012 I was lactose intolerant even before I had my band. I drink Lactaid brand skim milk, and discovered I have no problem with Greek yogurt. Things may return back to normal for you in a few months. For example -- I had always loved spicy foods but they KILLED my stomach those first few months post op. I can now eat spicy food with no issue.
Peaceful1 110 Posted December 20, 2012 Omg the idea of vomiting is so scary to me!
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted December 20, 2012 Try using almond milk, unsweetened instead of regular milk products. Helped me a bunch and is very low calorie. 1 Courtnin reacted to this
stratcat 10 Posted December 20, 2012 I had severe stomach problems after my band due to the strong meds. The antibiotic in particular. A call to my PA helped, he took me off meds as soon as he could.
FLHgal 68 Posted December 20, 2012 I has big problems the first couple of months. However by month 6, I could drink milk and or any dairy products. Hope it gets better. 1 Courtnin reacted to this
