mesmus 3 Posted December 20, 2012 My doctor said it's unusual for me to start feeling the full effects of the band so late. And I still think it's not enough. It's a big improvement but I am still hungry in the mornings and can't stick to 3 meals a day. I think 10cc could be the sweet spot for me.
Soybean 4 Posted December 20, 2012 I'm also at 9cc. I think I have a 12cc band. When I was 8cc I could still eat pretty much whatever I wanted, with few exceptions. Since I've had this fill a lot has changed. I can't eat much now (as in not many foods) but I'm psychologically more ready for it. I didn't feel any effects from the lapband for a full year and one half and since I wasn't feeling it working I didn't go back and get fills. This wasn't logical but it's where I was at. I guess I just didn't believe anything would work. Anyway, if you feel like another fill will help you, trust your judgement. There is no exact science to it as the woman who gave me the fill told me, and that makes sense to me. I feel that as long as I can drink comfortably and have a number of foods I can eat without much problems, I'm okay. Right now I can drink most things comfortably, though I've had trouble with acidic foods like lemons, oranges, and tomatoes. I also eat a lot of melted cheese, Soups with soft vegetables, refried Beans, and some salad plus crutons, crackers and potato chips in small quantities. I drink soy milk and milk products so I don't feel weak. I'm going to start taking my liquid vitamins again to be sure I have enough nutrients for the foods I can't eat. I don't feel hungry. If a food doesn't stay down, I take big gulps of juice to bring it back up so I'm not in pain or uncomfortable. I've never been a good dieter or bulimic or anorexic at all so my eating feels "honest" enough and I feel much healthier eating less (I've always felt better with less food but I have been a compulsive overeater so I was never able to eat lightly without the lap band). I guess I wrote a lot and hope you can take something from my rambling.

Wgbem 138 Posted December 21, 2012 I am so glad to hear that you can get filled that much and still have those feelings. I am at 8cc and was worried as to how I would be with not having much room left in my 10cc band. I just want to keep losing weight. It had bee a good journey do far. Rojasanoll 920 Posted December 21, 2012 Wow, that's alot of fill. I didn't know a surgeon would put that much inside. Allergan studies I got through my sister (a research expert for Allergan) stated abit over 50 percent should be a max for any Allergan band. I guess they've determined a diminishing return on the longevity of the band. But it appears too be working for you and that's the best news. My doctor is very conservative in his fills. I am close to being finished with 5.5cc in a 14cc band. I am 1.5-2 pounds of weight loss each week and that's all he wants, hungry or not. He wants me to understand what are the best foods for the best quality to eat. It is a long process, but he understands that we must say NO to certain foods. Best wishes
kmartinez973 46 Posted December 21, 2012 I feel great my doc does all his fills under fluro to make sure patients are feeling restriction. My first fill was 5.75. It was good for a few daya and then nothing I was hungry every 2 hours and didn't loose any weight. Now I def feel good restriction and lost 3 pounds in 2 days I feel great
Soybean 4 Posted December 22, 2012 What is "under fluro" mean?
Wgbem 138 Posted December 27, 2012 Under fluro means under fluoroscopy. It is done in interventional radiology so they can visualize the port. Be careful though because I had a co-pay of $150 to get it done that way. I had it once and once only and now my doctor can feel it.
