I miss sandwiches!

Recommended Posts

I did too in the beginning but I can eat them now. I have to be careful what kind of bread I use. It can't be doughy bread or dry bread and I have to use deli turkey since it's so soft and breaks up easily.

I wasn't able to eat them till about 8 months into my journey and I think a lot of that was due to learning how to eat with the band. Very small bites, chew, chew, pay attention for that stuck feeling, sip a little Water if necessary.

I don't make it a habit and probably only have a sandwich once every two weeks or so. I also use the low cal wheat flat breads so I'm no consuming a lot of flour.

I haven't tried yet. I'm not quite 4 months out from surgery and a little over 40 lbs down including pre-op. I'm afraid eating a burger with bun or a sandwich will make it slower and lead me down a bad path.

Those white bread Buns are a problem for me. They dough up in the pouch and can cause a stuck episode for me. I'd stick with homemade burgers, turkey etc. using whole wheat thin buns.

LOL...I just remembered a bike trip I took last summer. Rode 40 miles roundtrip, the longest the wife and I have ever gone on our mtn bikes. We were so hungry when we got back to the parking lot. My cyclemeter read 39.9 miles and I wanted it to read 40 dammit. So I was riding around in circles trying to get it to turn over to 40 and my wife yelled at me to git my butt over to the car and take her to eat, NOW! :o

We stopped off at a Carls and I ordered a double Memphis BBQ burger. Took me 45 minutes to eat it and two minor stuck episodes but it was worth it. "Note to self, don't burn off 1600 calories between meals or you will inhale your next meal."

I still eat sandwiches l but have to eat them differently now, gone are the days of taking a bite. Now I pick at them or use a fork so I know how big the bite is. Toasting the bread seems to make it easier to eat too.

Me too.... I just cannot seem to take a tiny enough bite so the fork works best...as does wheat bread...

I can eat a tiny amount of bread now. I think it takes a while to get use to it.

BTW...FLORIDAYS, you look marvelous ;)

Well it seems today my band has decided I will no longer be having sandwiches. Up until now I've had no problems with bread, today I can't eat bread, go figure. So odd how I seem to have so much more restriction since being sick. Not complaining, saves me from going to get more fills.

I haven't had a sandwich in almost two years. Every once in awhile I really miss them. But then I remember that I really like my new body, so I don't miss them anymore.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
