Hi I had my band put in on November 1 of this year. During the first three weeks, I lost 10 pounds and during the second three weeks, I did not lose any weight. I had my first fill 1 week ago today and since then I have gained 8 pounds. I am very concerned about this as I do not feel as though I and eating a lot. I do know that I seem to have no point of saturation and I do not feel full at any time. I am going back to see the doctor later this week and I am just feeling so down and depressed about my weight. I thought by Christmas time I would have lost at least 15 to 20 pounds. What is wrong with me?

Your post is a very common post mainly because almost every one of us has had the same experience 6 weeks or more into this journey. Seems like most all had selective hearing when we went through the seminars, research and nutrition meetings? I know I did. I really thought I'd immediatly start losing weight and feel satisfied with a small meal. HA! Not a chance. Some are lucky and it does work that way but for most, not!

I was banded a little over a year ago. I lost 12 lbs the first two weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Then I got my 3rd fill and met with my nutritionist. Relax, what you are experiencing is very normal and has happened to most of us.

You'll be in "bandster hell" until you get the fill that gives you enough restriction for the band to work it's magic. That may be 1 fill or 6. No one knows. Till then, like our esteemed forum member B-52 says, "

"Until there's restriction...It's just another diet

It's a slow process, I was banded on August 1, even at this point I have only lost 30 lbs, but I am losing. Slowly, but surely. It takes a few months before you feel the restriction you need to start the real weight loss. Just keep taking your Protein, watching your calories, and exercising and it will start falling off. The band isn't a miracle pill, its a tool and you have to learn how to use it. You'll get there.

Hi

Don't be too concerned... you may be losing in inches. Did you take your measurements? Having you been keeping a food journal? Sometimes weight loss kicks in on the second fill.

Hang in there and let us know what the doctor says.

Banded July 6 06

Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

It's rough in the beginning, that's for sure, especially before you have adequate Fluid in your band.

You said you don't feel like you're eating a lot. Are you counting calories? If not, you really should. Just because you're eating less food doesn't mean you're eating less calories. People who don't count calories and struggle with weight loss are usually shocked when they do start counting. Plus, when you're counting calories, it makes a lot easier to see problem areas in your daily diet routine.

Best wishes,

I had my band put in on Sept 17th and since then I have been on a diet (and we all know how those worked for us pre band). I lost 19lbs in my preop and 1st week post op and then have been slow going since. I have not gained anything, but have counted every calorie that goes in, sticks to 3-4 oz Protein, 1 cup or 8oz of food, regardless if I am still hungry or not and tries to drink drink drink........... I just had my 3rd fill and anticipate I will probably need at least 2 more before restriction. Until then, I continue to diet.

I was banded in August initially lost twenty then gained ten, I've just had my third fill bringing me up to 9.5 cc and finally I have restriction ! I have started to lose weight again and I'm not hungry. I have been very frustrated and felt very let down. But it's started now so great. Keep going

It's hard to add any words of wisdom to all these great posts...but I must encourage you to weigh and measure all your portions and track your calories....and I mean everything that goes in your mouth except tooth paste. :)

I ate 1000 calories through every stage and before getting into the green zone is very hard...but you can do it!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
