Surgery was on 12/13. First 2 days were fine. The on days 3-5 were pretty rough. Was trying to only take the pain meds when I actually needed them. Had a lot of bouts of nausea everytime I was in pain. Along with tons of gas pains of course. And coughing was horrible even with a pillow to my side. Hadn't got to sleep in bed and when I did sleep in bed it was straight on my back and I would wake up in agony. I haven't had an appetite forcing myself to eat (drink) something.

Well today I could actually roll out of bed with minimal pain and I'm able to move a lot easier. I actually slept on my sides sort of (a lot of propping up with pillows) but still actually for a decent night of sleep. Fas has subsided tremendously. I felt hunger for the first time today and actually ate/drank very thin cream of wheat with a scoop of chocolate Protein Powder with some Splenda. I'm hoping this new feeling will stay with me! It's wonderful. I just hope I don't get too hungry now haha!!!

There is light at the end of the tunnel! I know there might be dark days but I'm def ready to battle those for all the light days! Good luck everyone!!! The people in this forum are just awesome! Thanks guys!!!

I had the same things but I was not instructed to eat any cream of wheat... my diet is very simple Protein Shakes 3-4 times and a Soup and a fresh veggie drink...but then again I juice so it might be different... I also am a stomach sleeper so I had to do the propping up in bed...although I have a 1 year old at home with me so I had been moving around ALOT since day 1... now only my port incision is a lil sore when I sneeze or cough...can move pretty normal... I also was afraid of eating well drinking too much but I was just informed to measure everything out and eat until you're full you don't have to eat it all but you don't want to eat too many that are less then a cup... Because in order to burn calories in lose the weight you need to intake of them.... I was banded on the 14th so I'm right there with u...good luck...

I wasn't either but the patient advocate at the office that instructed us of our post op diet said to just stick with what consistency of food it doesn't have to be verbatim. So if its liquids then anything liquid is fine is how I told it. I got on lapband.com and found recipes for every consistency chocolate farina was on there. So basically instead of of using milk and Water I used cream of wheat. It was so thin I could literally drink it but I used a spoon for mental reasons. Lol yesterday I actually tried Tomato Soup with unflavored Protein powder it wasn't too bad either. I figured as long as I could drink it and it has protein that was fine! The Protein Shakes don't sit well with me If I drink 3 a day!

And yeah I'm a left side and tummy sleeper. That's been a harder thing to adjust to than not eating lol sad but true! Oh we should be bandster buddies or whatever they are called since our dates are so close! Good luck to you too!

I was banded on 12/12. Do you know why your doctor said no cream of Wheat? I'm just curious because I'm on full liquids until Thursday at least when I see him for post op and he didn't say no cream of wheat. I've been eating it very thin for a meal a day since Saturday because I am SO sick of soups!

I was told no cream anything for the. First two weeks... I'm not sure the reason.. but I was also told no breads or things like that ever and I see a lot of people eating breads and rice and stuff like that. So Idk I am a juicer so I juice my raw veggies and fruits...its so healthy and actually taste good so Idk maybe that was just geared toward me

Yeah I think every surgeon is different. Def do what is comfortable and a long as you're happy there's no need to rush in to anything different.

Yeah see my doc wasn't specific. Basically just do liquids the first week and make sure u get enough protein!

Here goes guys... I was also banded on the 13th of December feeling pretty good... also had hernia repair. That hurts a litttle bit.

Today I feel much better... getting my eating in order. The something every 30 minutes was difficult now I am doing well. Had watery oatmeal this morning... then soup... Protein Shake twice. I feel great.

I was too and I had a hernia repair too. My port site hurts a little. I was thinking about oatmeal but that's not on the list til next week. I did have a bite of cottage cheese. I'm a little unsure. I'm going to stick to liquids til tomorrow then creamy stuff next week. I'm glad you're feeling great!

Me I was banded on Friday. Still dealing with major shoulder pain. My doc says I can't have thicker liquids until Friday but I'm starting to get hungry. I did have some Tomato Soup but added beef broth to thin it some and it went OK.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
