Why didn't you ask these questions BEFORE you ate them?

I guess at five weeks out you are allowed to eat these foods, if your doc said so, but you sound like you are testing your band. Take it easy. Try things out but do so in moderation. The tone of your post scares me.

These food are ones that commonly cause bandsters problems. I think that eating chicken is excellent if you can do so. The other things though are part of the evil white group that inhibits weight loss, and should be steered away from except in limited amounts. Kabeerah is right though. Just because you CAN eat them doesn't mean you SHOULD. You are finding where your band limits are, and that's OK, but if continue to test your band like that you are not really working WITH it, but AGAINST it. Until you get a fill, you will probably be able to eat alot more than you SHOULD eventually be able to. Try to find a happy medium and put Protein first. This will satisfy your hunger the most. Good luck with your new band!

I'm not sure the foods are the problem! LOL

At 5 weeks I think you're being too liberal in regard to the safey of the band.

Hi Forest,

I am assuming you did not have a fill yet and do not have restriction. Even with restriction, I can eat chicken and rice. As a matter of fact, I still eat them regularly now. chicken is Protein and you should eat it if you can. I eat it almost everyday. Rice you might want to avoid since its not the greatest food choice. Bandsters eat their Protein first, then veggies and if any room left, limited carbs.

Until you actualy have restriction, you wont know what foods you can handle and which ones you cant. Most bandsters have problem with bread, but I can also eat bread and do not have any problems with it either. I just choose not to since I can get my Fiber in other ways like Beans for instance and most bread with the exception of real whole wheat or multigrain does little to help yo uwith weiight loss.

Hi Babs

I wanted to congratulate you on your wonderful weight loss. My starting weight was just 0.4 pounds less than yours and it's very inspiring for me to see how well you've done. I am only 11 days post-op and feel no restriction so I'm sticking to the diet plan until I am able to have a fill. I suppose I will find out when that will occur on Friday when I have my first post-op appointment. Once again, congratulations!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
