You would have to eat an extreme amount for that to happen. Like over 200 grams a day and I dont think any of us could eat that much. Even with three shakes at 60 grams you still cant go over on Protein.< /p>

The human body cannot use excess Protein, so when you consume too much of it, your kidneys must work extra hard to filter it out of your system. The additional Protein can strain your organs and cause kidney stones, especially for those already dealing with kidney disease (diabetics) Kidney stress becomes even more of a concern with age, when organs are no longer functioning as efficiently.

It can also lead to renal failure.....young athletes, (high school) feel that excessive protein will make them better athletes....they buy all the body builder fads, then they pass out on the field, and rushed to the ER thinking it may be dehydration but it sometimes means something more serious.....

Protein is the largest molecule we take in and it takes a lot more work to break down. If our body doesn't use it then it has no need to break down which then I filtered they your kidneys. Even with good kidney function if there is too much to break down they will develop stones.

Athletes and people working out can take in more protein a long as they are working out cause your body uses more when the muscles are tearing and healing. Even with working out there is still such a thing as too much protein. I would def stick with what your doc recommends!

B-52 is dead on correct.

You can definitely have too much Protein and it can have very bad consequences.

I actually had this happen to me. Many years ago, I tried the Atkins diet. I lost about 40 pounds but I ended up in the ER with a raging kidney infection. Apparently I had a build up of Protein in my kidneys/urine and it had a toxic effect. I was very sick for a couple days, it wasn't fun.

Talk to your nutritionist and find out the recommended minimum and maximum amounts of protein that is necessary for you.

Too much Protein can also cause a form of gout, i experienced it about five years ago on a high protein diet and it was so painful. I thought you only got gout from drinking but too much protein can cause a build up of uric acid in your system and cause painful joints.

I was diagnosed with gout when I was like 13.

I didn't know protein could make it worse I assume u have to take a whole lot in? I know certain foods have higher Uric acid content so I tend to avoid those such as salmon certain red meats asparagus and spinach and other foods I can't remember. I still eat the veggies but not the fish. Hmmm I will have to keep an eye out for flare ups.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
