After losing lots of weight, does anyone have issues with their port showing?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if I should be worried about my port showing a bump under my skin (or being noticeable at all)

So far I dont see it at all, but I can very easily feel it under my skin. Like it feels really close to showing

Anyone have any experiences?

How easily can you guys feel your ports?

i can feel the port with no problem and every once in a while I can see a small egg like shape if I stare really hard but never through clothes and honestly its not obvious at all.

I have zero belly fat, which means my port is right below the skin...looks like a golf ball!

Can't post pix from the hospital, maybe when I get home tonight.....

I can definitely notice mine more and I'm still not done losing. When I was first banded, I couldn't even feel it if I pushed around. Now, I can see it when I tighten my tummy and simply look down. (with no shirt on, not through clothes)

I honestly don't care, even if it shows more in the months to come. I figure it's like a little badge of honor "Look! I've lost so much tummy fat you can see my port!" ;)

I argee with Mis73....even though I have no room to talk since I do not have my band yet. Right now I would be happy to see something under my skin...I just have fluff right now

I have a question - how long are you swollen for after the surgery?

Looked like half a golfbll under my skin and you could see some tubing too. I gad it repositioned to be in that natural pad of contouring round the belly button rather than o the side where I am more hollow - its still visible but only as a vague lump.

I can feel my port almost constantly now, but I can't see it yet.

I can feel it, but can't see it. If you have plastics later they can change it out for a smaller one.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences

Jachut- that's interesting that u were able to see the port and tubing. Omg!

I sure hope my port will be unobtrusive... I asked my doc and he said that there's a possibility that it'll show/stick out, but I guess there's no point in woRrying now when I can't do anything about it anyways

After nearly 80 pounds loss, I can feel my port and a small bump. Not an issue to me.

Ladies, do you find that you have issues wearing tight tops?

I would hate to have a great body but have to worry about having to wear loose tops due to the noticeable bump

Yes my port shows through tight tops.... It really doesn't bother me. The other day my son gave me s hug and felt it, and said "yucky what's that?" I said... "oh mommy must have a big pimple"... Lol and he left it at that!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
