I have not been banded yet, but from what I've learned on this forum I think what you're experiencing is fairly common. I've heard this phase referred to as Bandster Hell....the time after surgery, before you get fills. Just hang in there! You're doing great!

You have to weigh and measure your food. No matter how much you want or can eat. You should not go over a cup of food on any given meal. Eat something healthy to snack on. You can manage no restriction you just have to hang in there. Holidays are not about food anymore but your family and people you love.

I was banded in October too. I have been living by the 1cup rule with Protein being the first to be eaten.

Christmas will be challenging but I want health right now, more than fattening stuff that will make me miserable in the long run.

Best Wishes this Holiday!

well congrats on that fantastic loss.

i was banded in june (and have no fills to help with restriction)

but i eat as though i am at the famous zone.....i do stop at 1 cup of food and use my want power to help aid me in this. just enjoy the holidays....if you splurge a wee bit, its okay, just get right back on track.

CG must have missed your post, but if you look at her signature right above her dogs, you will see she has taken off 88lbs in 6mths. I'm so proud of her, but don't tell her. Her head gets too big.LOL

Everyone is different when it comes to fills. I now a lady who lost 100lbs before she needed a fill and then there's some who have need multiple fills to hit their green zone.

The secret is sticking to that 1 cup rule, 3oz Protein each meal and always eat that first and if there's any room left 1/4c veggies 1/4 good carbs. Drinking at least 64 oz of Fluid a day.

I have only had 1 fill at 3cc and not in green zone yet, but I'm losing nicely by living the LB rules.

My Dr told me that on average it takes between 4 & 7.5cc to get to green zone. I'm counting on green zone to keep me from gaining the weight back.

I wish you all the best on your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
