If you're eating until you feel full, you're eating too much.

Here's a great link that explains it much better than I can: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

I just use the 1cup rule and am done no matter what, but I'm one of the lucky one's that have a nerve by band that shoots excruciating pain into neck & shoulder

that tells me to stop. But sometimes it could be a sigh, cough or sneeze.

Have you noticed anything like that?

Generally you need to watch for "soft stops." They vary but can include: Coughing, sneezing, runny nose, hiccups, etc. I generally get one of these before I get the full sensation. Once I feel full, it is way to late... I am miserable for hours. I did not check you profile, but it sounds as if you are recently banded. If so, take it slow and easy. Good luck!

Hello, this is my 1st time posting and I wanted to is if someone can help me. I'm a year banded and I'm experiencing alot if burping/gas. I have 7.8cc in my 11cc band. I was up to 8cc but have had them remove .40cc. On some days I'm able to eat but on other days I'm having problem getting food down like today I had 1 boil egg and since eating it I am having alot of bubbling feeling in burping. What is causing the burping when I'm eating I do alot of burping as well in it starts soon as I start eating. Please help me to know what's going on with my body. I would love to eat a decent meal, haven't had one since Friday not able to eating anything in it stay down. Thanks

It may be many things. However, you mentioned a boiled egg. I do not do well with boiled or scrambled eggs. You may find there are foods that you cannot eat any longer or need to prepare differently. When I get the burping it is usually my first sign that I am getting "stuck" or having difficulty w/ the food I am eating. After that happens I often have to keep to soft foods for a day or two and then I am fine. Since you had this since the egg, you may want to do a day of liquids or mushies then soft foods and in a couple days resume eating regularly. I have to think it may just be that boiled eggs are no longer your "friend". It seems odd because they are "soft" but they just don't work for me. I think eating them over medium does since they are softer and the liquid from the yolk helps them go down easier.

Good luck to you!

i also have trouble with boiled eggs...i love them, but my band doesnt always let me have them!

as for the original topic...usually halfway through my meal,i will get a dull ache in my back..and as ive learned, that is my full feeling..its weird, and took me awhile to get used to,but if you listen to your body, you'll know when you're full, way before it becomes uncomfortable!

Thanks for the advice I will do liquid for the rest of the night b/c I don't know why I have being burping all day in that is all I had to eat today. I just had a Protein Bar and I was able to keep it down now I'm drinking a Protein Shake. So I will do this for a couple days and see what happens.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
