Hi,

Just started soft foods last night. Ate 1/4 cup of tuna salad. Wasn't "full" but didn't have more because I was scared.

Well...I just had lunch - 1/4 cup tuna salad AND 1/4 cup cottage cheese. I feel like I just ate a large meal. I REALLY do not want anything more to eat.

I AM PSYCHED BIG TIME:clap2: I think I am going to like this band!

yea, I know, it won't last but I was SO afraid I would still be hungry after such a small amount of food.< /p>

Thanks for listening.

Pam

So glad to hear you could eat just fine and with no problems. I will be so happy when that amount of food fills me up. Congrats.

Pam TX So proud of you! I've been banded 9 days, March 29th, and have only dropped 5 lbs. I'm on mushies too and limit my portions to 4 to 6 ozs. but have not lost as quickly as you. Any secrets? I drink Water throughout the day. Keep up the good work!! Stelis2

I'm drinking 72-80 oz water/crystal light daily and I think that does help with the weight loss. I was never a Water drinker before, but i have to replace my long-lost diet Coke with something LOL!

I know exactly what you mean. I was so excited to be full!!! I am now almost 3 weeks out and it is gone a bit, but still can't eat more than a cup...some days a cup and a half if I'm feeling greedy :biggrin1:

For me...I was on liquids the first 7 days and that's when all of my 16 came off. Now on mushies no movement as of yet. :hungry:

for the first week of banding including the hospital stay and not eating for 2 days I had about 800 cals in 6 days

I got on the scales expecting a 300lbs weight loss lol and had only lost 5lbs

cant tell you how disapointed I was then by the end of week 2 id lost 20lbs so be patient I had a huge loss because I was huge to start, but it will come off when your body recovers from the shock of the anasthetic ect

just a note, I had an emergency op, christmas day, I ate NOTHING only sips of Water for 5 days and when I got weighed id not lost an ounce in fact Id gained 3lbs !!!! thought it might come off later on but it didnt.

go figure

Pam, I am experiencing the same thing! My boyfriend keeps asking me how I like it and I'm still in shock and aawe that a cup of food makes me feel as full as when I ate 1/2 a cake.

People who are not obese have no clue how amazig that feeling is to us.

that was my problem with food I never ever felt full, unless you call stuffed to bursting full, then half an hour later I was looking for more food

Its just taken me over an hour to eat a yoghurt 4pm my Breakfast, It was a struggle because I am so full after a few mouthfulls -- a whole new way of life isnt it

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
