Sweet cravings

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

so every night after dinner those sweet cravings hit. I can not handle SF pudding any longer. I am to the point of nausea just thinking about it.

I need some ideas.. anyone!!!!

I love chocolate & if I have a chocolate craving I have it. One small piece, I let it melt in my mouth and I am satisfied.

If I crave something, I have it, one piece will satisfy me and the craving goes away. I don't believe in anything being off limits.

It's a lifestyle, not a diet (for me)!

Skinny Cow makes some really good, low calorie, Cookies and candies. Of course you want to stick to the serving size recommended and add it into your daily calorie allowance, but they're great to satisfy cravings.

Healthy Choice makes some frozen Greek yogurt that's good, too.

I agree with ajtexas- it's a lifestyle change not a diet. You can have treats just in moderation. I know I do!

The skinny cow icecream bars on ocassion are yum a dum, I also like the SF creamer for my coffee (pumpkin spice or carmel macchiato), Jello has SF choc mousse which I really like. However, I do indulge from time to time on a snack size piece of candy (1 or 2 pieces) of hershey's kisses or a snack size candy bar (like the Halloween ones). I count it in my daily calories and don't do it all the time but once in a while, it's yummy. Also SF jello w/ light whipped cream is good too.

If you have one...and I mean only one Hershey's kiss now and then it won't kill you....and it will satisfy your craving. But only step out of bounds if you can control yourself to stick to the limits.

No ands if or buts about it, when I have. Craving it cannot be satiated without a LOT of sugar. One or two little chocolates won't cut it, nor one cookie. I have to eat until I can really feel that drug hitting my bloodstream, I suspect the cravings that hit me each afternoon have a more biological origin in my body than just fancying a bit of something.

Easy answer for me, tough it out. I cannot do sweets in moderation.

I know exactly how you feel. Sweets are like my drug. And I own a bakery :( fantastic combination right?! Lol I allow myself to have something nearly everyday. I keep it in my calorie range and I'm still losing weight. If the urge is still there, Fiber one makes these great 90 calorie brownies and Cookies that hold me over really well. I recommend giving into your craving because if you don't, you may binge later and it's only downhill from there. Trust me, by the time you get to 1/2 a cupcake, you'll feel satisfied. I was a 6 pack of cupcakes kind of girl and now I'm satisfied with only a 1/2. Any more than that and I feel gross. Christmas cookie production is very hard right now so I try to keep it to one cookie a day. And they're small...usually only 100 calories worth which is manageable. Maybe for every sweet u eat, u could exercise what it takes to burn that amount? I try to do that whenever I can. I just keep reminding myself how I was in the bathroom all day long before...and until Lapland I thought that was normal. Now normal is so nice and I'm not running to the bathroom every hour because of the constant sugar and fat in my system. :/ tmi, I know...but it's reality. ;)

Super Walmart has lots of SF Creamers, I use a plain one in my hot tea. Also, Blue Bunny makes the best SF ice cream "Sweet Freedom." I eat a spoonful, it is great! Also at Super Walmart.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
