When people say " I fell off the wagon " what does that mean? Or when they say I'm back to old habits ? Just wondering ... And how can someone fall off the wagon?

When you go back to your preband ways and eat like you did before the band that is what it means. It is possible to go back to your old ways.

I often wondered this also.....with the band I am not sure how I can go back to my old habits....

I have been on vacations, cruises, where food was available 24/7, and even if I tried, there was so much I could tolerate.....last cruise I enjoyed myself and still lost weight.

In my opinion, I would imagine it could be true for people whose band is not that tight and depend upon self discipline and will power more than the band itself.

Yes that's what I was thinking ... How can you go back! Well at least for me I can't eat that much any more... That's why I didn't understand how you could go back to old ways... Believe me I use to eat a lot! I don't think I could agin well at least not with the band on!

You're very lucky you're not a sweets person, that will help you SO much!

While I definitely can't eat nearly as much as I used to, I know all the bad junk foods are definite sliders for me. chips, cakes, ice cream, etc... slide right through and I could eat a ton if I let myself. So, in that respect, I can see how people "fall off the wagon" if they're not careful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
