My prescribed diet was 2-3 oz of Protein liquid at the top of each hour while awake. I used Protein shakes for this. Then at least 203 ounces of liquid every 15 minutes. If you do the math and you are are awake at least 12 hours a day:

12 x 2-3oz - 24-36 oz Protein drinks (Avg was 20 g Protein per cup or 60 g protein)

12 x 3 other 15 minute segment/hour x 3 oz = 108 oz of liquids.

If you need more protein, drink it at the half hour mark.

This plan easily gets in the required protein and liquids we need for post-op recovery, and it is a schedule you can follow anywhere.

Bee Healthy!

GNC has a unflavored whey Protein that has been really helping me meet my protein intakes. I mix it with the mushy food and into my Protein Shakes.< /p>

Watch with some Protein powders, they can be loaded with carbs and unnecessary sugar. I've been using (although pricey) Unjury powders and so far I like them. chocolate is probably my favorite. I also have an unflavored one that I add to Jello and pudding and some drinks. I don't know how I would get hit that protein mark without them.

My doc has me on a progressive diet, clear liquid to full liquid (I'm on now) to puree to soft to solids

Banded 12-7-12

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
