Losing my hair....still!!!

Recommended Posts

You are right on target for the hairloss. Make sure you are getting the right amount Protein and I agree with the Biotin. But there are 2 factors that play against us 1 being lack of nutrients in the beginning weeks after surgery, bit one of the most common side effects of anaesthesia is hairloss and everything we ingest in our bodies finally ends up coming out of our hair and nails.

Anyway, usually hairloss begins at about month 2 and slows to normal shedding at about month 5 or 6, depending on how fast your body metabilizes the meds. However it will het better.

I agree with this answer. I lost lots of hair in that time period. I took Biotin and was making sure I got my Protein in and I mean good quality protein in like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. The good news is I have all this shorter new growth in my hair from which I had lost. The bad news is there is some more grey hair in there that I didn't have before but that is why they make haircolor. Haha. This takes quite a toll on our bodies but with time everything gets better! I am a year out and I feel great! Good luck

Trying to get healthy.

Biotin I order through Amazon. It helps. I also take prenatal chewable Vitamin with extra folic acid. Something is helping!

I understand your frustration. I have also experienced a LOT of Hair loss since lap band surgery in April 2012; my husband has to unclog my shower drain once a week . . . VERY embarrasing. This was NEVER an issue before. I do take Multi Vitamins and biotin; I went to my family doctor and had extensive lab work; everything came back "normal" . . . very frustrated with this issue

Check your ferritin levels - 10 is the lower level of norml but tht low I have all the debilitating issues of Iron deficiency nd major hair shedding. I really struggle with iron and my hair falling out has been my signal three or four times to gt it checked - I'm always norml hemoglobin, low ferritin ( which I basically your storage)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
