Evening all.

I had my band fitted just over 6 Weeks ago. I followed the diet plan and went from fluids to mushy and then to solids, but was surprised by how little restriction there was when I started on the solids. I was able to eat more than the recommened amount and I was beginning to wonder if they actually remembered to put the band in.....lol. Anyway after feeling really well and not having any of the common side effects I resigned myself to the fact that for me, the band won't work until I have a fill, which I haven't had yet. Now all of a sudden, I have restriction, I can only managed a few mouthfuls before I start to feel sick and really full. I'm pleased I now have restriction, but don't understand how I can go from one day eating a normal meal, to the next day not being able to eat more than a few bites. Has it worked this way for anybody else?

Yours is the 3rd such post of the day. Here's a link to another post and topic that dealt entirely with the same issues.

And another:

Don't mean to put you off, but many of your questions are answered in these two topics.

I will say that for me the band was very finicky the first 8 months. I could go a week eating pretty much anything and then suddenly, my band would say, no way, no chicken today. It takes some time to change old eating habits. Big bites, eating too fast and the wrong food mix takes time to change, but you'll do it, in about 3 more months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
