I need some positive words to get me back on track. I had my first fill about a month ago. I haven't lost much weight at all. I seem to be able to Eat more than most and get hungry shortly after a meal. I know the Band won't do all the work, but I'm disappointed that I can't tell much of a difference at all.

It usually takes most people multiple fills before they can feel a difference. I know it's hard but be patient, it does take time.

Please keep in mind the band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything, so don't expect the band to restrict your food intake. That will forever be up to you, hence why most doctors recommend measuring your food so you can be sure you're not over-eating.

Once you have adequate Fluid in your band, the major difference is hunger. You will be able to go many hours without being hungry after eating very little food. This is what the band is meant to do. But again, that usually takes time and multiple fills to achieve.

Be patient, it will come :)

Give it time. Most have several fills before the band makes a significant difference. It is all about changing your lifestyle and no depending on the band to do the work.

Allison.birch please know that it takes a gradual journey to get this weight off and not an overnight thing you probably all ready know. I remember asking the same questions like you. Don't get discouraged please. I was 276 and now I'm 163 two years out. I lost my best weight going into second year. I chose to fill slower and held out on fills, finally last May, 2011...I began to see changes after I think fourth fill. Size 16...yay. Then here in April 2012 got another fill and weight dropped again this time size 14! Ok so in October I dropped 18 pounds to now. Had a recent unfill and I'm maintaining. But in size 11-12 almost 10. It's a definite journey but it will happen!!!!!

Yes use this time to get your head in the right place...

I think looking back and wanting to se he scale drop faster...is what we all want..but the small fills and the stuck issues all get us ready for the fill where everything comes togeter....the small bites...the eat slower....and the chew chew cew.....hang in there hun.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
