Poster child 0 Posted April 8, 2006 I have finally quit smoking and feel very good!!! I am trying to completely change my lifestyle for this year. Monday, I start the liquid Opitfast diet for 4 weeks! :paranoid I just hope I am not taking on more than I can handle. I am 100% committed to both weightloss and being a non-smoker! I just needed to share! I am curious about others quitting before banding. My surgeon really encouraged me to stop prior to surgery.

chichigirl 1 Posted April 8, 2006 Congrats on a wonderful accomplishment!!! From someone who is constantly trying to quit both smoking and overeating, I admire you and want to tell you that I believe that it's certainly possible to do both at the same time. It's not easy, but it never is, even if you just try doing one, quit smoking or dieting, so what's the difference if you try to do both. I personally say WTG and good for you. I wish you nothing but success in both arenas and hope to see you posting and bragging all the time. I need the kick in the backside and you may just have the boots to do it for me. Thanks for sharing. Cindy

Poster child 0 Posted April 8, 2006 thanks everyone! I am doing the smoking thing cold turkey. There is a shot that is supposed to conquer the cravings for nicotine while quitting. I had it Thusrday and have been doing well ever since. There is no nicotine in the injections. The shot is atropine and scolpolamine, then you countinue them orally(pill form) for 10 - 14 days. They are supposed to help the withdrawal symptoms. At times, I think, what the heck am I doing and then others when I say..way cool!!! Thanks for letting me 'vent' the nicotine craving I am having right now!
