hair loss and hair growth....

Recommended Posts

Am I crazy? I've been going through the dreaded Hair loss, people have even noticed my hair thinning but I'm noticing some Hair growth on my face, on my upper lip and some on my neck, not just the little crap under my chin. I'm taking 10,000 mg of Biotin a day and I don't want to stop but has anyone else experienced this? is it a side effect of the Biotin? Hormones? Ugh I did this to be a sexy woman but now I'm starting to look like a man :(

I stopped taking Biotin because at the five month mark I still shed a lot of hair. Every single diet I've been on in the past once I've lost a huge amount of weight which is usually at the five month mark I get the hair shedding. It's something that happens naturally a few times a year anyway, weightloss makes it a bit more.

After a month I've found it's all settled down. I've never been a hairy person and personally I didn't find Biotin has made any difference and I took it every day for the first five months.

i would say that at 2 and 3 months, i started noticing more hair (in the tubaround the drain). told my dr, he said its normal and not to worry. he told me to keep up on my Protein and it will get better. and at 6 months out, i have noticed it fuller and growing faster (same with my nails). i do not take Biotin. i did for the first couple months but my dr said it doesnt really do anything (this is my dr only and he is whoms advise i follow).

and for the hair on my lip (no chin yet) i just wax that right off....i think it will get better :)

if not, as sojo says, ask your doctor for guidance

bee well

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
