Hellloo. I am scheduled to be banded in January. How quick will I lose? I don't want to get my hopes up too high. My current weight is 260.

I think everybody is different. I've been banded about 6 weeks & lost 40 lbs so far including preop diet. Of coarse the stricter you are with diet and exercise the more you'll lose. Good luck

Welcome McTeacher!

Everyone loses at a different rate according to their size and age, but Drs. like us to lose 1-2 lbs per week.

Of Course some lose more and some lose less.

I started dieting before I got my band 2mths ago , so it looks like I've lost a lot according to my ticker, but at my 6wk follow up I was down 36 lbs and at 43 lbs today.

It's all about following the LB rules and sticking to what your Dr orders for you.

Stick around so everyone can get to know you. You'll find a lot of support, knowledge & inspiration here.

Thanks everybody. I am very very excited!!

You should start practicing some LB rules before your surgery, so they might become easier.

Eating off smaller plate

taking smaller bites

chewing until it becomes mush

drinking lots & lots of Water

Also start trying Protein shakes to see what you like, everyone's taste buds are different too. LOL

Be sure to ask a lot of questions

Welcome I have lost about 2 pounds a week since May 24th when I was banded. I did lose a little more the first month, I did not do a pre-diet so did not lose anything before surgery. It seems to be getting a little harder to lose now ( I am losing about 2 to 3 pounds a month ) but that is ok. I am started to sag in some places so I hope the slow weight lose will help with that. It is so different for everyone, please stay in touch with this forum it has been such a great help to me, hugs

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
