Hi all today for some odd reason I am very emotional. 1st I was angry mad irritated things like garbage not being taken out or my kids room is mess was getting me really angry and now I am mad or upset to the point I am crying like this never happened before. The thought of seeing a shrink is occurring. Maybe it's because I am deficient in nutrition or something. Want to see if anyone else experience emotions since the band.

I don't regret any decision in my life because at the end I will make it work

Yes, I was like that after one week post op & I believe it's because I was hungry, in pain with gas, etc. Now, two weeks post op I'm not emotional because I can at least have soft foods now. Keep your head up. We have to pray for better days.

Yes! My BF was here helping me two days ago (day 4 post op) and I was very crabby! We have never argued or been close (in 1.5 years) but I had to apologize for my fussiness. I'm super hungry yet have no appetite. I go for followup tomorrow. Yay!

Also, lovely, if you previously used food to cope with your emotions, you have now lost that coping mechanism.

I think I have been crabby at times. It is a HUGE life adjustment. Also, before if I was frustrated I would eat. Since I am not doing that then I have to deal w/ the situation and that can be stressful. Plus, just the changes we are undergoing and lifestyle changes play havoc w/ our emotions.

I am 4 weeks post op and the emotional side is hitting me now. I cry watching the news for goodness sakes! Literally, anything will make me cry, if someone takes a tone.. I burst into tears. I never used to be like this, but my body and my life has under gone a HUGE change these past 6 weeks.. So I can understand anyone being emotional :-)

I think the emotional roller coaster is normal. Just think about all the changes we are going through. Relationship with food has changed, our bodies are changing, the head games are another issue to deal with, when we socialize with friends and food that's also different now.

I was having this conversation with my husband the other night at how far I've come from the beginning of the year and all the changes I've gone through, I remember how I was so emotional about a month post op and I'd cry for no reason till I sat and really analysed why I was all over the place emotionally.

Don't be so hard on yourself it's a huge change this lapband journey. It takes time to adjust to it in every way.

Also I'm sure all the hormones stored in our stored fat gets released as we loose and has to play havoc on us.

You also might be onto something with vitamin/ mineral deficiencies so look into that too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
