Does anyone have any problem getting all of your Water in for the day? I'm not a person who has to be drinking something all of the time and I know my water is not on par where I am supposed to be. I have a ton of different flavor packets and it's not that I don't like water, it's just that I'm not thirsty. Any suggestions besides forcing myself to form this new habit? :)

Well... I don't know what else to tell you, but you need to drink, thirsty or not. I love to drink Water so it's never been a problem for me. Staying hydrated is really important. All you can do is try your best to get the 64 oz reccomended in each day.

you just drink/sip all day long....as the poster says, its vital to stay hydrated..and do what you can to gt it in...it helps gives you the feeling of being full (and helps with head hunger (it did for me)...and is just good for you...find something you like (i like peach ice tea) and this is my saving grace..

bee well

I have a Water bottle in my hand all day long. It sits at my desk, goes to meetings with me, in my car, next to me as I watch TV in the evenings.... I am never without it. If its there I sip and when its empty I fill it. I was never a Water drinker and by doing this I now drink about 80 ozs a day.

Just find a way that works for you. Bee Well!

This isn't a suggestion but something my nurse said to me. If you're in ketosis (when your body uses your fat stores for energy), you are not hungry. And people who are not hungry, she said, are also not thirsty. I'm really struggling with this at 6 days post op. I'm consuming 100-150 calories a day which makes me not feel thirsty. I'm challenged to consume 20 oz of liquid a day right now. And I'm trying so hard! We just have to find tricks that help!

Im having a hard time, too. I notice when I drink out of a straw I get more, even though I hear we're not supposed to have straws... But it does help. I do also drink Decaf tea during the day. I don't know what to do either.

At work I carry my water bottle to all meetings and sip all day long. I do all the Crystal Light flavors during the week.

Do you sip out of a straw? I'm afraid to try and sip out of a straw. I'm 5 weeks post op

I don't have a problem getting my Water in everyday, I have a pop top bottle with a carbon filter in it that holds four glasses so two of those a day meets my Water requirement. I carry it with me everywhere and constantly sip from it.

In the mornings while getting my kids organized for school I sip on a bottle of viitamin water, by the time we are ready to take off for school that's all gone, two glasses worth.

If you're not thirsty you cant force it, just do the best you can, if you drink other things throughout the day that also counts towards your Fluid intake.

Thank you all, I really appreciate the input! Sometimes it helps just to hear others that have achieved this and/or are going through the same thing. I took the bottle with me to meetings today, so got a little more in ;) , will keep on working on it. Liz, maybe we need to make it a competition or something to get ourselves to drink the liquids, lol.

Drink by the clock... at least 2 oz every 15 minutes. In a 12 hour day that will let you get in 96 oz. That should be plenty.

Im just curious..do you really have to sip super slowly? What happens if you need to down some Water after a workout?

I have been banded for 10 months and have the restriction I like. I can gulp Water. Now if I gulp water took fast I feel it heavy on my chest, my band gurgles and I have to wait for the water to pass through before taking another drink. If I continue to drink it wont go down.... This doesn't happen often but it happens. I listen to my band and don;t push it.

So to answer your question no you don't always have to sip super slowly. You have to learn what works for you & your band.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
