suzeeq67 23 Posted December 12, 2012 But I know today's the day, haha. I only lost about 6 lbs. this month. My surgery was Sept. 11th but doc hasn't wanted to do any fills because I have been steadily losing with diet & exercise. I know today's the day, so wish me luck. line-dancer 810 Posted December 12, 2012 good job my surgery was Aug and I just hi the 40 lb loss today. I had 3 fills and think I will need another after the first of the year. Good luck today
kll724 3,055 Posted December 12, 2012 Why would you think that "only" six pounds is going to cause you to get a fill? Six pounds is great and if you are continually losing and feel some restriction you don't need a fill. there is one gentleman on here who has not had any and lost most of his excess weight. Others have never had a fill either. Don't be in a hurry for a fill if you don't need one. best wishes, karen 3 CaGottaBand, DanaAdams and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

megamomnj 334 Posted December 12, 2012 My doctor said that if I loose more than four pounds between my monthly appointments than he won't do a fill. I lost more than that and I don't see him until the end of next week. Not upset though, feeling great with my progress and don't want a fill unless I need one. dreamers 27 Posted December 12, 2012 I'm loving all these replies about no fills! I just got banded a few days ago and the whole thing has shocked me into a serious lifestyle change. I won't be able to eat like i used to with the band there, so i am embracing that. If anything i am so terrified of getting stuck or anything like that, i feel like i won't be doing anything silly... and i REALLY don;t want more restriction unless the scales stop completely... and even then i will try carb cycling, changes in exercise etc Good to hear from you all! Renee2817 76 Posted December 13, 2012 Good luck to you, I am 6 months out and 53 pounds down with out a fill, with the diabetes my doctors said it's harder to lose the weight but he is still pleased with my progress especially so with me not having a fill. My plan is not to need one as well, if I feel that I do I will, but as of now I am GREAT! Best of luck to you on your new life journey. 1 dreamers reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted December 13, 2012 i dont have a fill but i eat as though i do...to me, a fill will be my insurance policy for when the dr and myself think i need one...to have the band work, you gotta eat smart, exercise and leave fad diets at the curb... bee well 2 dreamers and CaGottaBand reacted to this
Courtnin 86 Posted December 13, 2012 I'm actually quite terrified of getting a fill lol. I'm almost 4 weeks post op and down just shy of 40lbs. I feel like my body has had so many changes that I'm not sure I could tolerate another any time soon. I don't feel any hunger really, and eat like my doctor instructed me too. So I guess I'm kind of leaning towards only have one if I REALLY need it. 1 dreamers reacted to this
SueBee01 630 Posted December 13, 2012 I love all of the talk on not needing a fill! I always get so worried for people that keep getting fills, but don't seem to be following the eating rules. I am so proud of all of you! I was scared shitless when I got my band and even more when I read about problems people have. So I only had one initial fill. I eat right and am losing. Even though I have had a couple stalls I am happy with my loss so far. 3 Courtnin, dreamers and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
4yrs With Band 3 Posted December 13, 2012 I'm excited to see more people not getting fills (: keeping yourself at a good restriction to just be losing the right amount of weight each month is so smart! That way you can really get to know your diet and what you're body can handle without starving and using the band in ways it isn't intended. 1 dreamers reacted to this
suzeeq67 23 Posted December 13, 2012 My doc did do a fill today. I didn't feel a thing. I haven't been hungry since yesterday at 2:00 in the afternoon. Not sure why. Talked extensively to the nutritionist and she was awesome. I needed that refresher to remind me how the band is to be used. I am a little trepedatious for fear that I will mess up and eat something wrong or too much, etc. But I know that I have the tools and knowledge necessary to be successful. However, I really feel like I had stalled. Not because of the weight loss, that wasn't the big issue. It was the fact that I had no restriction at all. I could've eaten anything I wanted, although most days I didn't. There were some days where I had a lot of trouble. I am 3 1/2 months out & almost 40 lbs. down which I understand is great. That wasn't the issue. The issue was beginning to be the physical hunger even when I ate the Protein and tried to keep my tummy satiated. And emotional days were hard because I am an emotional eater. That's what got me 140 lbs. overweight! So my point is, to each his own. I Celebrate each and every persons weight loss as long as they are happy & healthy. And you have to work hard for every lb. lost and they should all be celebrated. Even if you have a fill that isn't going to be the only reason you lose weight. Exercise, vigilance, and determination are the key!!!! Good luck everyone. And congrats on your successful journeys. Everyone is different and you're right that we should all do what's right for our bodies. Listening to your body is key. Personally I was just relieved to hear a lot of people didn't want or need fills.. I'm still getting my head around the fact that I have a plastic ring around my stomach so I need to take it slow. When you say you felt like you could eat anything, did you? Just curious. Could you eat any food you wanted with no problem, and that's why you got the fill? P.s 40 lbs is an amazing loss and you should be stoked! 1 bandedsheree reacted to this

P.s 40 lbs is an amazing loss and you should be stoked![/quote'] Every time I went back to the docs I was asked if I was hungry all the time -- my doc would even say, "Are you miserable!?" Lol. He is so caring, that way. And if I ever got nausea or had throwing up or stuck episodes. The answers were always no! However this visit I admitted that I feeling hungry a lot, even with the Protein I'm eating, etc. and doc asked if I can basically eat anything I want. I said, I could. . . but that I don't. I was very vigilante even at Thanksgiving. But a few times when we went out to eat I just wasn't as vigilante. I still stuck to my good foods (I.e. salad, grilled chicken, vegetables) I just ate more of them & definitely too quickly!! Doc asked me if I could eat bread. Once again I admitted I could but steer clear of it as much as possible! Anyway so that's how that went. Then he did the fill, had me drink Water while he waited, told me I'm doing great!! Today I can feel a lot more restriction. Whereas before I could eat deli sliced lunch meat no problem. Today I had to readjust and eat slower! And actually make half a can of bean Soup & eat that slowly. So yay! My band is working. Thanks for the encouragement. Hope you are doing well!
