Eat to LIVE not live to EAT

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to change my whole thinking process on food. They say " have you ever seen a fat wolf or a fat lion?" These animals eat for nutrition and survival. I'm hoping I can be a tiger and start thinking of food as a simple fuel I need to survive. It's hard and I'm not there yet but I'm trying. I guess 40 years of bad habits ain't gonna disappear overnight.

FOr the first year of my journey I had the words FOOD IS FUEL written everywhere... on a post it in my car, on my bathroom mirror, my phone background, on the fridge and on my computer.... it helped.

Not easy to change engrained habits, but it can be done with dedication and consistancy. However, it is nice to actually like the new way of eating. I don't miss pigging out and feeling as stuffed as a thanksgiving turkey.

I am with you - it is a TOTAL paradigm shift in terms of thinking about food. I must agree with others - I do not miss feeling stuffed after a meal, that part is really a positive change!

i was in that same thought earlier this year.

it was either do it or soon they'd have to cut the wall out to move my ass....i want this bad enough to make those changes (eating better/eating smaller amounts and moving as much as i can).

def want power...

you can do it. hang in there.

I feel very lucky that I'm not one that has mourned the "loss of food" after this surgery. I love that I can only eat a little bit and I'm done. My first time to eat out after surgery was with a group of friends that didn't know I'd had wls and we went to lunch at Paula Deen's Buffet :o! I ate my little bit until I was satisfied and stopped. When we left, all the other women were moaning and groaning about how stuff they were and I felt great.

The only problem was when dinner time rolled around, I was ready to eat again and they were all still stuffed, so I had to eat dinner alone.

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
