Use hydrocortisone cream around the area, you may have a reaction to the tape but make sure not to touch the incision!!!!

I had the same thing with bandages. They actually burned into my skin. It's ok to go without bandages, but leave the steri-strips in place. I was told to wash and dry well, but not to put anything on it.

As soon as bandages came off, they got better.

Good Luck!

I had the same problem, so doc just said take over bandages off and go with steri strips. I also used and anti itch cream and they cleared up just fine.

I thought I was going to go crazy with the itchiness, but it does go away! Until then, try putting ice packs on to numb the pain.

Itchiness is a great sign is healing. I know its winter there but if you can let the air get to it so take your top off. I had 2 cuts one underneath each boob, so being summer here one was red from the heat, so it felt good to let the fresh air to it. If any if the sites havent fullly joined ring your doc

My doctor actually told me that once I got home from the hosptial I could take the bandage off that the glue and stir stips would hold it he just but the gauze and tape on to keep any excess blood and dranage from surgery from getting on my clothes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
