Bread, rice and pasta

Recommended Posts

Ok,

For those of you that have the band already, is it really true that you can eat NO bread rice or Pasta at all? That's what my nutritionist said. What are the effects you have actually experienced if you do?

I can eat bread but whole wheat only as per my drs instruction. I have not tried white sandwich bread but I have tried a small bite of roll or biscuits and they seem to be fine but I don't want to push it

Rice... I can eat it but it will come back up about 30 minute later so I try to stay clear

Pasta again wheat only.... I can eat the regular stuff but it usually comes back.

That said.. My starch intake is VERY limited at 1/4 c per meal... So bread doesn't find it's way to my plate often. I do eat Pasta a few times a week but it's limited quantity

I can eat bread just fine.. I only eat whole wheat though, I have had 1/3 a roll once and it went down fine, but like floridays said.. not something to push. I've only tried a couple bites of rice before my fill so not sure if it will do anything now, I have tried it since.. and also haven't done Pasta yet, but I do have some whole wheat pasta.

You can eat whatever you want, but what's the sense in getting banded to change your life and lose the weight knowing that your doctor and nutritionist don't want you to do these things because they are not good for you! Too many carbs and calories you really don't need! I read about so many girls that are depressed and quit cause they don't see results! But you know what, they don't stick to the rules! Changing your life and the habits that got us to where we are now require a lifetime commitment! Please stay on track! Do it for yourself!

With the band you can still have all the foods you enjoyed before the band just in moderation. I had surgery in September and have lost 50 pounds. I choose not to eat sweets because Im not a sweet eater but if I want it I have it.

Ive tried , small bits of Pasta, some rice but NO breads so far. I feel I need the Protein intake over anything else so I don't slide. So far so good.

Best wishes

I've had pasta no problem, only had rice once no problem (not dry white rice though. ONe of htose Unlce Ben mix things)I've had a few bites of corn bread but anything dry bothers me. I did have a half of piece of toasted garlic bread one night with no problems. Everyone is different. My doctor told me yesterday that once I get into the green zone I will want to avoid white sticky gooey types of bread, stringy stuff like celery, really dry meat. Thats about it.

He also told me once I can have anything I want its just that I won't eat as much of it as I use to. I like his attitude. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
