I had Dr. Hollis and he was amazing. I really dont have anything positive to say about the post op care in the recovery room but I hope that will be different for you.

The general staff, OR staff and the pre op nurse were amazing! If you have any questios we are here. Alot of us on here had Dr. Hollis.

I am 4 weeks post op and my Dr is Hollis. He is patient and kind. The post op staff was okay. One nurse was just awful bad. She was complaining about having to stay late and got after another nurse for giving me pain meds because I was kinda zombied out. She then proceeded to tell ask me if I thought this would be a cake walk and to expect pain. If I would have been in my right mind I would have probably told her something about her chair side manner. But being in the medicated state of mind I was in all I could do was frown. Good luck to you and 4 weeks post op I can say I am excited to great things to come.

sure it will all work out either way.

I had my surgery today at The surgery center in Houston with Dr. Reilly. I have to say he was awesome and so were the pre op nurses. And contrary to a lot of the stories I've read my post op team was great with me, they didn't rush me and were very friendly towards my mom and myself, they answered all of our question and made sure they explained everything to my mom in Spanish. I guess I was very lucky. Good luck.

I'm with True Results Houston and I have Dr. Reilly. I'm scheduled for surgery 12/31. He was very nice and took his time with me at my pre-op appointment. The staff has been very nice and helpful also.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
