BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 11, 2012 I do have a masters degree in Business. But I can't for the life of me figure out how I'm supposed to get 60 grams of Protein in per day. My doc says I should be eating 3 oz of protein (meat/cheese/eggs) 3 times a day. That's it. No veggies, no dairy, no fruit, no carbs. I've tried a lot of protein combos in the last week. But, I can't get to 60 without a protein shake! Any suggestions?
pinkcess 12 Posted December 11, 2012 I'd ask your doc, he's an educated man too. Put it to the test!
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted December 11, 2012 I ended up drinking a Protein Shake as a snack.< /p> 1 BandedBettyBoop reacted to this
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted December 11, 2012 Go to choosemyplate.gov. It's a really good website which gives you an idea of high Protein foods. Granted you will have to adapt for a bandster but its a good place to start to have an intelligent conversation with your dr

Toddy 758 Posted December 11, 2012 I never had trouble with the 60 grams. If it needed to beef up the Protein at the end of the day, I did a shake or Isopure.< /p>
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted December 11, 2012 Maddy hit the nail right on the head. It is very difficult for a weight loss patient especially to pull in 60 grams and over of Protein daily from food. I for one struggle daily with this. Just like Maddy said, you need to now start 'adding' more Protein into your already protein foods. I do the same thing, I add eggs, cheese, nuts, Peanut Butter, etc. whatever has protein I just add more to my meals. I can not drink protein shakes/drinks. They make me sick so all my protien is dependant on foods only....
LadyMaggie 145 Posted December 11, 2012 I also struggle with the math to get to 60 or 65 grams of protein; so I started adding the UNflavored Unjury Protein Powder to foods I eat; I also can no longer tolerate the shakes. So, this is the only way I know how to keep the calories in check while getting to the magic Protein number each day.
BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 11, 2012 Well my struggle is I don't have many options to just add Protein. I will look into the Unjury as added protein to food. I'm also going to try to eat more fish. cheese doesn't seem worth it, im not getting enough bang for my ounces when I have only 3 oz alloted per meal. Same thing with eggs. I'm not allowed Peanut Butter or nuts yet. I'm just trying to stick to my rules. Looks like I'll be having tuna for breakfast! I like seafood, but it gets a little expensive to eat all the time. Oh well... Gotta do what you gotta do, right? Thx again all.
Awkward customer 5 Posted December 11, 2012 I work out in the gym, and to build muscle drink Protein Shakes with semi-skimmed milk. You need to pick a good one - high in Protein and low in carbs. One example in the UK is this: http://www.body-building-uk.com/p-903-body-building-ukcom-speed-up-whey-protein-225kg.aspx I have that - but you must be able to find similarl low-calorie high-protein shakes State-side. Maddysgram 6,159 Posted December 11, 2012 Gorton's makes an excellent Grilled Tilapia that cooks in the microwave in under 1min, I believe it was 11gr & 70 cal. I put some cocktail sauce and it is good. I get frozen shrimp in freezer section 30-35 shrimp for 16.00, it's expensive, but it will last awhile. Think I'd have to go with a cheese omelet for Breakfast, don't think tuna would go down to well for me.lol 2 eggs take out 1 yoke add cheese and 15gr. right there
BandedBettyBoop 36 Posted December 11, 2012 Awkward I use Isopure as a Protein shake. It gives me 50 grams of Protein. I just want to try to get my protein from actual food. Maddy I don't know why I didn't think of taking the yolks out. Slow moment. I will try that. I've had eggs/cheese omelettes a few days... Looking for variety :-)
