titansjim 22 Posted December 10, 2012 I think my surgeon is good but the " after care" has been almost non existent. No one has called or anything. I got 1 call from a nurse the day after surgery. Now 6 weeks post op I get my 1st fill tomorrow. I called them to ask if there was any diet restrictions tomorrow and they said they didn't think so. Lol. Well I don't know. That's why I called! Tomander 614 Posted December 10, 2012 HI If you can try and get to a support group. I hearing from so many people that clinics are not offering adequate follow up support. Keep after your clinic with your questions. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs tomander@bell.net 1 titansjim reacted to this
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted December 10, 2012 Sorry to hear you are frustrated. Perhaps the person you spoke with on the phone wasn't a medical staff member. Does your doctor's office have a nutritionist on staff? Mine does and she is available for me to talk to at any of my visits. If there isn't one, I would urge you to see one that specializes in the band to help set up a plan for you. Ask your dr. tomorrow about the diet. He has to know. Typically, it is liquids or mushies for a day or two and then gradually to solids. My doctor's office has been wonderful but I think it is normal for you not to hear from them. I only talk to them at my visits. If you have any questions after tomorrow and still don't get answers ask away at our experiences. I am saddened by how many doctors don't educate their patients and think that makes all the difference in the world of success. Good luck to you! 4 Maddysgram, titansjim, dee257 and 1 other reacted to this
SageTracey 608 Posted December 10, 2012 I only ever hear from my surgeon's office if they need to change an appointment or something like that. What were you expecting to hear from them? It would be good for you to explain your expectations next time you are there. Best wishes.

FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted December 11, 2012 Other than right after surgery I never received a call either.... But I was armed with a packet of what to eat and a nutrition plan to follow....when you go to your next appointment why not mention the call to the dr about noone at the office telling you what you should be eating then take notes when he tells you.... 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
titansjim 22 Posted December 11, 2012 All good advice. I just was under the impression that with the surgery I also got all the " benefits" of solutions weight loss center. Maybe I'm being a baby but I guess I don't know what those benefits are. Lol. They really seemed caring & wanted to help pre op but I guess I thought they'd check on me or something. Lol. SueBee01 630 Posted December 11, 2012 I have a great office, but did not expect any calls. They are available whenever I need them. You have received great feedback. Make sure you get connected with a NUT. That is where I get most of my support. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Toddy 758 Posted December 11, 2012 My doctor's office had me watch a couple of videos, and gave me a lot of handouts. It was up to me to read the extensive info they gave me pre-surgery. I've always known they were there if I needed them, but they also expected me to educate myself with the info they gave me.
Liliesprom 0 Posted December 11, 2012 I'm 11 days post-op and returned to work today (I could have gone back at full steam on day 7, but had company so I waited until today). My doctor's office has been great. They called on a couple of occasions post-op so far to check on me. I had a post-op office visit 7 days out. I am looking forward to getting into a support group to share in person with others as I can be a little dense about the instructions. I am grateful for this website. Now that we have our bands, it's like other health matters...it's important that we take charge of our well being and be assertive! Hang in there and keep asking until you get the answers you need.
