lalinda1236 5 Posted December 10, 2012 Day 10 and I'm thirsty! I know I'm a little dehydrated I know. But how can I make it better if I have to sip? I want to drink my 4 oz fast but I'm scared of making myself sick, but on the same token I'm so thirsty! Will I be sick from drinking too fast?
smellslikecoffee 43 Posted December 10, 2012 I found that iced cold Water satisfies my thirst. I was so used to gulping down water when I was thirsty, and now we can't! So I ice it up and sip slowly, swish is around my mouth and it helps. I talk all day at work so I'm always thirsty! I'm 9 days post op!
FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted December 10, 2012 Everyone is different . I personally couldn't have chugged that early... Still cant really now. But Test it....an ounce at a time....
titansjim 22 Posted December 10, 2012 I'm about 6 weeks post op. at first I was really scared about getting dehydrated cuz I used to drink so much but now I'm fine. Just drink slow & steady when you can
SueBee01 630 Posted December 10, 2012 Test yourself. I just found that I burped all the time if I drank too fast. I just take my glass with me everywhere I go. My husband thinks I am crazy, but he is used to it now. I bought a 22 oz Tervis and fill it 3 times. Then I know I will have no worries! You will figure out the pace. It also matters on how tight you keep your band. I have only had on fill over the year so I can do more then a sip, but no chugging!
Kimbergro 16 Posted December 10, 2012 I keep my Water loaded with crushed ice. That way when I take a sip, I get some ice too and suck / chew on it. Makes the sip seem like a little more that way. I'm 12 days post op.
Banjo257 920 Posted December 10, 2012 This has been a concern of mine too. Thanks for the info. 1 CHEZNOEL reacted to this
♥LovetheNewMe♥ 1,216 Posted December 10, 2012 If you chug most likely you will throw up, take small sips frequently. You will get used to the new way, try sucking on a SF Popsicle or some ice chips this will sometimes help curb the thirst. 1 CHEZNOEL reacted to this
