After first fill, I am STARVING!!!

Recommended Posts

Oooooo I am soooo hungry!!! What gives? I was LESS hungry before this first fill! I feel like the fill switched on my appetite 10 times more than before! Is something wrong with me? This morning I had almost an entire egg and bagel sandwich (I stopped myself from eating the entire thing, but it was hard!) and then just now I had like two full cups of hot Cereal (oat bran) and I'm still starving! I have LESS restriction than before! I have 1cc in a 10c band. Hellooo... WHAT IS GOING ON???

I have read here from a lot of people that many bandsters don't get restriction until the second (or more) fill. And that it can take several days or even a couple of weeks for the restriction to kick in after a fill. So don't freak out yet...give it a little time. I felt absolutely no change after my first fill but just got my second one this week and can feel quite a difference. It'll come eventually. You're in this for the long haul, but I know how impatient we get to see some changes! It will come...just TRY to be patient :)

I am desperate for my first fill. Still have two weeks because the doctor had to reschedule me. I'm starving. Able to eat too much. I'm still eating better and less than I used to but too much. I'm not losing any weight and really getting bummed out. Two weeks seems like forever.

Hey, I have the large VG band, too. My first fill of 4cc did nothing for me. I waited only 2 weeks and went in for another 2cc. That did the trick! I am thrilled at the portion size I can eat.

This is YOUR band. YOUR tool. If it's not at the right fill level, you know it. Go and get a bit more. ;)

1cc in a 10cc band is nothing. You still do not have really any restriction. You will probably need several more fills for the hunger to stop. A 10cc band is pretty large. I have a 4 cc band and my first fill was 1.5ccs. By the way why are you eating bread? ???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
