Magic 0 Posted April 7, 2006 Hello gang, Since I got my band on 22/Feb (6 weeks ago) I lost 10 Kg which equals to 22 pounds. So is that a little loss? and what is an avg loss per week or month? Thanks a lot guys<!-- / sig -->
prinnie 0 Posted April 7, 2006 I got my band one week earlier than you. Most of my weight loss was the 2 weeks pre-op and the 2 weeks post-op. My doc said that the average is around 2 lbs per week once you are on solids!
Anwyn 0 Posted April 7, 2006 My doctor told me that the average loss with the band is 1lb per week. From what I've observed on this website, it varies widely from person to person. It also depends on your start weight - typically the more you have to lose the faster you will lose. At any rate, 22 lbs in 6 weeks is definitely faster than average, especially since most people don't lose any weight until they get their first fill. Congrats! stockymd 0 Posted April 7, 2006 I think it's common to have a big loss in the first week or wo since you are on liquids. I lost 16 in the first week. Once you move to solids it slows way down. Sorry.., but don't get too excited about the thought of lossing 10 pounds a week. LOL
PhotoNut 7 Posted April 7, 2006 I remember losing 8 pounds in one week and I was thrilled. The next week, I only lost 1 pound and I cried! *laughs* As Stocky said, things do level out and return to an average of 1-2 pounds per week. Once you are on solids again. Toss in some exercise and drink lots of Water and its possible to see 3 or more pounds a week on occassion. I'm out about 12 weeks now, and as of last Sunday I've lost 40 pounds (since surgery). That's an average of 3.33 pounds per week. Your average is 3.66 per week (22 divided by 6). I'd say you're doing great!
Dody 0 Posted April 7, 2006 What a great weight loss. I always forget to ask you what you have lost on the band. That's phenomenal, but then you are the model bandster. You keep a journal and everything. I only hope to do half as good and I will be thrilled. You seem to have just kind of flowed through the process with no major problems and that's what I need to hear. Keep up the good work. (and Dawg amazes me what he is doing piggy-backing you. Kudo's to him too).
