Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet - Shake suggestions?

Finishing up Day 3 of my Pre-Op Diet (11 more to go until surgery!)

My doctor's pre-op diet guidance is

  • 1 low-carb yogurt (I've been having fage 0% with a packet of truvia)
  • 1 cup of skim milk
  • 4 Protein Shakes / day (1 of which I can have with sugar free pudding)
  • Unlimited calorie free drinks + sugar free Jello + popsicles
  • No caffeine, carbonation

Caffeine headaches have finally subsided and I am rocking caffeine free living.

Unfortunately I hate my Protein shakes. Hate them. Bariatric Advantage high protein. Vomit. I feel like I've tried everything including mixing with pudding and nothing works.

I'm thinking about picking up a store brand shake (allowed as long as it has 20+ grams of protein, limited carbs and <150 calories) Any suggestions? I'm dying over here.

Muscle milk has the best i don tried every flavor n settled for my one n only cake bater akins has some but its low in lrotein muscle milk u shud try high Protein

I really like the Atkins advantage. I'm addicted to the mocha latte shake. It's 15g Protein, 1g sugar, 160 calories and 2g net carbs. I tried the muscle milk... Vomit. I also tried EAS and the strawberry wasn't bad but overall the advantage ones are the best. I also had syntax double cookie and its way to watery. Yuck. I lost 13 pounds by doing the Atkins for 14 days. At least try it, you can buy them in a 4 pack for 5.99 and if you hate them, throw it away and you haven't wasted a lot of money.

Just an FYI, but the Atkins Advantage website has a coupon for the shakes and you can get 3 bars free for signing up.

I mix 1 scoop Syntrax Nectar Roadside Lemonade with one packet of Crystal light lemonade on the go and 1 cup of Water. Tastes very refreshing! I bet even better with blended ice.

I like Body by Fortress in chocolate or Chocolate Peanut Butter. It has 52gms of whey protien and taste gd.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
