I live in ny and have Aetna ppo....for the past year I have had a bmi of 40+. My doctor wanted me to make a list of failed weight efforts, about a year and a half ago I got down to a bmi of 36 but then went right back up. Do you thing I will have a problem getting approved by insurance if I have no co- morbidities but have been over a bmi of 40 for most of my adult life?

Hmm that's a tough one. I had a bmi of 40, plus hypothyroid .. and my BCBS still required me to do 6 consecutive months of weight loss documentation... they told me the band is approved down to a bmi of even 30, but u really need one of those other conditions.... I know, not really helpful. Lol

I am going to be going for a sleep study. I sleep very poorly and take naps at least 4 or 5 times a week. For the first time in my life the more illnesses I have and the more I weigh, the better. It's all very odd lol. Obesity is very accepted on here. What a breath of fresh air.
