hay4943 0 Posted April 7, 2006 HI.. I am considering LapBand surgery, and after reading some of the topics like "Erosian", or Slipped Band, having to have band removed.. ect.. I am hesitant to even go see the surgeon.. any thoughts on that? Sara 245/would love to lose 80-
jtrek 0 Posted April 7, 2006 Sara, You just have to look at the benefits and the risks. I would say the benefits outnumber the risks. I already had to have emergency surgery not even 2 weeks out from banding....but I still say the benefits will so be worth it!!!!!!
Anwyn 0 Posted April 7, 2006 I know how hard it can be not to focus on the complication posts, but try to remember that the vast majority of bandsters are doing great. I am one of the unlucky "slipped band" people, and I don't regret my decision to have the band one bit. There is no way that I would be down 75 lbs in 9 months without it. I'm not trying to sugarcoat it - this is surgery, so you do have to be willing to accept the possibility of complications. Good luck with your research. Don't be afraid to go in for that consult - it's always good to gather as much info as possible before making a decision.
Paulax 8 Posted April 7, 2006 I wrote a similar post a while ago. But the benefits are what are keeping me going. I am getting more and more confident every day. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16722
hay4943 0 Posted April 7, 2006 ok thanks guys... I have an appointment next week with family doctor to get referrel, then to surgeon hopefully soon, i have been to a seminar , but of course they don't really concentrate on the problems that could happen. I am really thinking I will do it as long as insurance approves the procedure.
