Tummy bug or problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I had my last fill nearly 2 weeks ago & all going beautifully. Thought I'd hit the green zone. Yesterday after some baked Beans for lunch I started to get some tummy cramps, and they lasted for about an hour. I stupidly tried to eat a bit of burger for dinner & it got stuck & I saw it again :-/. Got the pains again. I didn't eat Breakfast and ate 2 corn chips off my sons nachos & got them again. It isn't like a stuck pain, it feels as though it's under my band and across my tummy. Any advice or help welcomed.

Does it feel like a stomach bug like you might have had before getting banded? If so, then that is probably what it is.

It is quite tempting (and probably normal) to worry that every ache, pain, cramp etc that we feel in the stomach region is related to the band, but it won't always be so.

Funny part (for me) is that when I crashed off my bicycle last week, it was the next day before I even wondered whether I might have hit/damaged my port. Guess that is what multiple other injuries does for the mind-set!

Just be careful if it is a tummy bug because you don't want to be vomiting with it.

Take care.

It's weird cause it doesn't really feel like a bug. No other symptoms. I just get cramps from food. Will try a Protein Shake for dinner I think. Not much fun though I tell u

Remember, because we eat so little as compared to before, our normal stomachs begin to shrink.....and occasionaly I will eat some foods I normally do not anymore, or overeat with a slider food like a ice cream sundae or large milkshake, I will get a good old fashioned tummy ache....

Also, with such small portions, the strength of the food is intensified.......I used to eat a entire bag of chips....now, just a small snack will give me reflux!

Incidently, even when I find a way to eat around the band, the fact that my smaller shrunk stomach cannot handle it saves me every time!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
