2 Days Post Op, 5 Days Pre-Op 18 Pounds Down...

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I am 2 days post op. I did a 5 day pre-op. I went into surgery at 9 and came out of room at 10:30 home by 11.

I have a little tightness while drinking clear fluids and my broth. I am assuming it is because I am still swollen. Did anyone have this and if so how long did it take for the tightness to go away. It only last a few seconds....but its different.

I have been getting up walking around, it just feels like i did 7,000 sit ups. I don't even want to eat, lol never thought I would say that. Today I start liquid Soups and puddings. ;)

I weighed myself this morning and couldn't believe my eyes. 18 pounds in a week. Needless to say I am pretty excited.

Thank you everyone for all your posts and knowledge I have learned.

Also can someone tell me how to attach my tickers and how to update it?

Thank you!!

;)

I am two days post op also. I believe that it is a stomach spasm. I get tight for a few seconds then get better. Just part of process I guess. How's the pain? I am better today first day I was on the Tylenol 3 every4 hours.

I too am on my 2nd day post op. I had a hiatle hernia repaired as well. I feel like I fell.off a building. Pain in shoulders and back and sipping Water as much as possible. I am doing broth and Jello. But I must confess tonight I am hungry. Thinking of what other Soups I can move to...any thoughts?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
