Congratulations... just hours away from being in "Bandland"... this is a great site for information.

Take it one day at a time and ask lots of questions.

I recommend you take a before picture, your measurements and keep a food journal.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Tom, Toronto

Banded July 6 06

Nothing to it, you have the hardest part beat, those stupid Protein Drinks :) The worst for me was the IV. I went in at 9am and was home at 1 pm. By 2 iwas walking in my yard and by 6 was in my garden LOL. Next day was a lil sore but never took pain meds. Good luck to you !!!

Good luck! I am sure you will do great.

I am a week and half out and i feel great. In addition to chapstick dont forget Gas X strips and a heating pad. I also had liquid tylenol on hand. One thing that really helped me was chicken broth. I went to Panera bread and got it and then just strained thru the broth. It was tastier and had some flavor.

Thank you everyone for your kind words! Meg's good luck with everything. I am still very sore but getting around ok. Totally not hungry at all which is good. I was worried I might be. Laying down is the worst! But the pain is less day after day so I am happy for that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
