To Fill Or Not To Fill

Recommended Posts

Okay I think I'm getting a complex. I had 4cc my first visit and 2cc my second in my realize band. My last fill of .5cc was like 2 months ago and I follow up on the 14th. My doctor did not want to give me that little .5cc fill because of my weight loss but I conned him into it :) I'm to the point where I continue to lose weight but it's so iffy.. I got stuck at 217 for what feeled like FOREVER!!! I have lost 15 pounds in the past 6 weeks but I still can sit and eat a whole pork chop and a half can of green Beans when I sit down and eat and be fine...I dont feel full and some days its all I have not to go back for seconds...I DON"T though! I know alot of this is mind over matter but I'm just wondering if you really think its okay to eat this way, be loosing weight and still not be in a green zone. I want to get to the point where my band says I WISH YOU WOULD TAKE THAT LAST BITE AND SEE WHAT I'LL DO TO YOU. So frustrating. I really feel like I want to push for a full CC next week but I just know how my doctor is and he will say "whats the point you're still loosing weight and I don't want you throwing up..slow and steady now". Thoughts?

Your dr is right, but I also feel your frustration. I suspect you chose the lap band because you want it to act as a tool and support you on this journey.

At the moment you are doing really well, but it is all your willpower. Sounds as though the only way to get more fill is to relax your willpower, stop your success and fall back into old habits that got you into trouble in the first place.

Or you could congratulate yourself on how well you have done, keep on doing what is working for you, and know that you have the band there as a back up when you need it. With the fills that you have to date, you are much closer to restriction than if you had had no fills, so when you really do need the band, you may only be .5 away.

Congratulations on your success and keep up the great work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
