Getting Water In

Recommended Posts

I am only a week out but I've got to know, it is so hard for me to get 64 plus ounces of Water in. Again, I know I am just a week out but I feel full all the time. I am forcing in what water I do drink per day which is usually about 24 - 32 ounces. Does this get better? Is anyone else finding 64 ounces or more hard as well?

I am 5 days in and feel exactly the same as you do, today was the first time I felt I could drink alittle more and easier. Just drink it slow and through a straw.

Don't pannick, do the best you can, eventually you will be able to get all your Water in. I found it hard also in the early weeks as I constantly felt full even on liquids and pushing it made me feel nauseous. As long as you are getting some liquids in you'll be fine.

I wouldn't recommend drinking through a straw as you can take in too much air which can make you uncomfortable, just take tiny sips from a glass or I use one of those pop top Water bottles.< /p>

Very normal, as the days/weeks go by you will be able to drink much more. The only advice I have for you is to drink all day long, this is key to healing. Keeping yourself hydrated is what you want to do. I am not sure about using a straw this early on as it can cause more air to travel inside of your new pouch, causing a gas like effect that can be uncomfortble, especially soon after surgery whereas we have gas trapped inside that needs to disipate.

You seem to be doing fine, and yes it does get better :)

It does get better and you have to work up to the amount of Water they want you to drink. I keep a bottle with me at all times. Everything comes with time.

being so soon after surgery, you are very swollen (hence why they want you to sip all day long)

so sip as much/as often as you can. you must drink to stay hydrated. its vital. as the swelling goes down, it will

start to become easier. so hang in there and congrats on your recent surgery :)

You will do great during recovery. Give yourself some needed time to heal properly but please SIP the Water. A little bit all day. Then one day you will be at the 64 oz level. It doesn't all come at once. Be patient but follow the doctors directions and not over due anything. Heal first!

Best wishes

I'm 4 months post op and still have a hard time getting 64 oz in a day .....don't beat yourself up over it! if you pinch your skin and it doesn't retract...you need to drink something other than that as long as you're peeing and feel warm just take your time and heal!

Listen to your body, and don't force it. We are all different, so why would 8 glasses a day be a general rule? I know it has been pushed by many doctors, nutritionists, etc...but when it comes right down to it...none of us are exactly the same. I do try to get in a good many of Water daily, but if I am really pushing it, I'm not gonna worry about it. The job of water is to cleanse and flush your kidneys...if your pee is dark yellow, you need more water...if you are peeing practically clear, you can assume the water is doing its job. I use that as more of a gauge than how many cups of water I am taking in. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
