12-14. Ready And Very Nervous!

Recommended Posts

Will it work? Will my support system really support me? Can I have the occasional glass or two of wine afterwards? When can I work out? How about the extra skin? Soo many questions....

It will work if you want it to. If your support team doesn't support you, we will. After you're healed a glass of wine is ok, a lot of ppl here have it. You can start walking right away, but any heavy lifting and crunches will have to wait 6wks. Most likely will have loose skin, but rather have loose skin then be dead from obesity. Your Dr will answer all these questions for you. We can give you all the advice, but the #1 piece of advice is follow your Drs orders.

All Drs are different, we can only give you what our Dr tells us.

You'll do fine!

Thanks. I have a 3 yr old so I won't have a choice but to be up and walking quickly. I am oddly in the fortunate super morbid obese ... Ironic right? I have no other existing health problems so it is just time to nip this in the bud before I get any problems other than 150lbs to lose!!

Like Maddysgram said, we will be here for you. Read as much as you can about the surgery and ask all the questions you want of us here. Good luck! Proud of you for taking this step!

Thanks ladies. I have been doing nothing but reading :)

Congratulations on taking this step now. We are all here to support you on your journey. I thought some of the same things! What if it doesn't work, what if I fail to lose. Then I just thought to myself, how can I fail? Only if I don't follow the rules will I fail. I watched a lot of ghrelinBGone and BandedWendy videos on YouTube. GhrelinBGone said " I didn't want any part of my postop to resemble my preop" it made so much sense to me.

Take care of yourself, follow your teams orders to the t, relax and enjoy the ride!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
