First Follow Up And Weigh In!!!

Recommended Posts

Do you mind me asking how much you lost during the one week of pre op dieting? I only had to do clears for 3 days so I only lost a few lbs. My one week check up is this Wednesday. I'm not going to be anywhere near 40 lbs down! I Have been hoping to be down 15 lbs. at my one week check up. Congrats for you though! That's awesome!

I don't mind at all! I lost 19lbs on my week pre op liquid diet. I only had Atkins shakes, broth, Water, and Jello. It was brutal! I didn't expect to lose 40 either. Completely shocked!

I am 6 weeks out and have only lost 10 lbs pre and post. I noticed since I've been banded I have back pain sometimes from right shoulder down to lower back. Do you think my doctor did something during operation?

It could be from the stitching. Did he fix a hiatal hernia too? Sometimes that can be the cause of the back pain.

Wow, that is outstanding!! I know it was hard! I am going on my 2nd week post op and am starving.....How many calories were you eating (approximately)? I am about 12 lbs down since surgery. Very happy for you :D

I take in between 500 and 800 calories a day. It might have been a little less when I was on all liquids, but not much because of the Atkins shakes.

That's great! I was banded on 11/7 and since then and my per-op which started on the first, I've only lost 23 pounds... I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Wouldn't how much you weigh to start with affect how much you lose? I've always heard the smaller you are the harder to lose. Just curious...

Congrats on you awesome loss! That is amazing.

I am one week out and feel like i haven't lost anything at all. I had my follow up yesterday and had lost 5lbs. I am super frustrated. Everyone i talk to says, "oh you are still swollen", or "oh i am sure it is just the retained IV fluids", but i am buying it. I sat in the office yesterday and just cried, i was so dissappointed. Between the horrible gas pains, thrush (which i was totally not prepared for), and what i consider poor weight loss, it has been a rough last few days. I just joined this site, and am hoping to find some support in people who know what i am going through, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Me also, one week out. Funny enough I also got thrush and wondered wth? Gas pains...yes, but almost gone. Pls don't get down on yourself, everyone is different, this is the time to be kind to yourself and be patient. Don't worry about everyone else, YOU are the most important thing right now. And 5 lbs is 5lbs...lift a 5lb bag of sugar or look at 5 lbs of butter, you've done well and I'm giving you a big hug and patting you on the back. Well done!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
