There are two brands and surgeons typically select what size for each patient or have preference to size and brand. They are designed a tad bit different. You can Goggle them by brand and see them.

It really doesnt matter what band size we have or are filled to. There are two brands of bands an different styles. Gills are individualized to each person.

And yes our stomach do shrink due to the viseral fat lining around our organs. So the more weight we lose the looser the band becomes the more need for an added adjustment.

Remember, getting a fill is not based on feeling anything different. It should be based on are you losing weight and how long can you stay satisfied between meals when you are eating real food. It is a lot of head game in the beginning so don't let the "I need a fill" take over what we all need to be doing and that is eating properly in smaller amounts.

I keep asking what difference the band size makes but I don't get answers. If you are asking and telling people what size there must be a reason. Please share I really don't understand. Everyone is different. You can't judge by what others have.

From my understanding your band size is determined by your surgeon based on your internal anatomy...the size or how much is it is no revelant to anyone since everyone body responses differently to fills and the band itself.

I have a 14cc band. I get my first fill this Monday.

I just received my first fill. Apparently the surgeon had put in 4.5 during surgery. They added 1ML so now i'm at 5.5 out of 14ML. I hope it helps with my evening hunger!

I didn't know for awhile. It wasn't really important to know. I finally asked one day, just b/c everyone else seem to want to know.

I have no idea what size band I have, never asked, I have no idea how much is in my band. Never asked. I just know it works and that works for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
