I Think I Am Too Tight

Recommended Posts

I had my 2nd fill 4 days ago and I am really having a tough time. It takes an hour or more to eat a cup of food and if I take a bite that's too big or too quickly I instantly get stuck and feel like I need to vomit to get it to move. I am afraid I need to have some Fluid removed but I am afraid to call or that I am just jumping to conclusions. I am just tired of being miserable. The last 4 days have been rough.

Why are you afraid to call? It doesn't sound normal that you are constantly getting stuck. Call your dr.

Call the doctor. Four days is enough. It should not take an hour to eat one cup. Besides after the first 2 minutes the stomach empties out, and you have begun meal two! No reason to be afraid to call, we have all been there!

I guess I just don't know if its normal for a 2nd fill to feel a lot tighter. I have even gotten hiccups more than normal and I guess that should be a sign because I remember them saying that is an indicator.

What are you eating to cause the stuck episodes? Have you tried Soups or slider foods? If they get stuck, you're too tight. If not, maybe you need to take smaller bites and chew more. Eliminate the obvious before you take any Fluid out.

Yeah I went to the office this morning and he said that a cup of food is too much if I am getting stuck and to just eat less slower. I almost got stuck with a pudding the other day... so I don't know. He didn't want to take any out so I guess I just have to adjust myself more. Its just hard because I am starving but feel like I can't eat. I try not to snack but when you are this hungry it almost feels like you need to.

For some of us it takes many months to find restriction and the green zone. At first it angered me that I had to wait so long. But looking back on the journey I see now that it was a blessing. I really did not understand how to eat with my band. It has taken months and even a year now to figure this out.

I believe that finding so much restriction so soon can be detrimental. I know I was looking for that full feeling or for some overt sign that I could stop eating but it never came. Taking 30 minutes to eat is now the norm for me. I find that by 30 minutes I'm no longer hungry and it's so much easier to stop and just throw away food that until now, I would have eaten at one sitting. It's the small bites, big chews that work for me. And I do have to say that for you or others, it may be different. It usually is.

My doctor, and I believe most doctors prefer to sneak up on the green zone. It gives the patient ample time to acclimate to eating with the band. It does sound like you could use a small unfill but it's best to follow the doctors orders I guess?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
