Lisa0203 73 Posted December 3, 2012 Hi All! I was banded almost 8 weeks ago and have been taking the Unjury/Opurity brand of multivitamin and Calcium chewables. My Dr and nutritionist would like their patients to switch to the pill version of Vitamins after 8 weeks, so rather than buying several kinds I figured I'd ask for suggestions. As I said, I am almost 8 weeks postop, I have no fill in my band (which I would like to keep that way for as long as possible), and I have already lost close to 40lbs. I haven't had any "stuck" episodes or even any discomfort, but I am fearful of purchasing vitamins that are big enough to cause any of those problems! Somehow, in my brain, I cannot process how I have to chew chew chew my food but I can swallow a whole solid pill and not have any issues. My instructions are no chewables, no gummies, no Viactiv...1 multivitamin daily, 1500mg calcium daily. Any suggestions would be SO greatly appreciated! Thanks! honk 780 Posted December 3, 2012 Not sure why no chewables or gummies. My doctor specifically said Flintstones chewables with choline and Caltrate plus chewables (calcium with D).
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted December 3, 2012 I swallow "One A Day" Womens Petites (Multivitamins) - You take 2 a day, one in the morning and one at night. I have NO problems at all swallowing these, I am lucky because honestly I would hate to chew any Vitamins or pills.< /p>

hely88 883 Posted December 3, 2012 I currently take vitacrave (CVS brand) Gummy and i take a gummy Fiber from Vitamin shoppe that has been working very well. Calcium is the problem. The nutritionist and the nurse said 1200mg of calcium citrate and I have looked everywhere it is so expensive and you have to take multiple times a day so I went for fill today and nurse said okay to take the carbanate which one type is the chewables. She said that was better then nothing. I did try some bariatric type of calcium but it tasted horrible and again to get the recommended does it was too much. Always make sure to get a calcium that includes Vitamin D. Best of luck.
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted December 3, 2012 I use the calcium citrate minis. You still have to take 6 pills, but they are much easier to swallow. CVS has bogo sells on their generics from time to time.
NettaRue 4 Posted December 3, 2012 Hi Lisa, Why can't you use chewables?
Lisa0203 73 Posted December 3, 2012 Thank you everyone for your suggestions! My Dr. says no more chewables unless absolutely necessary because, as someone with a Calcium/Vitamin D3 deficiency already, it is sometimes best to take supplements that can be absorbed slowly by the body. My labwork already came back for my 1 month post op as being low on calcium/D3, and that is with taking 1500mg daily + 1 Multivitamin. So, I will follow Dr's orders and see what happens at my 3 month labwork. I'm actually looking forward to being able to swallow my pills...no matter how many days went by, there is no getting around that chalky, sweet, sour taste! Yuck! 1 PattyGirl66 reacted to this
