When Can You Go Swimming?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone can tell me when you can go swimming after you've had your band done.

I'm not talking about swimming laps or anything. Just for leisure. We want to go away for 2 nights about 5 days after surgery just not sure if we find a place with a pool or not??

My dr said I could bathe or swim the next day after surgery. I would ask your dr what he suggests.

That said... In my opiniom 5 days post up is a bit soon to go on a vacation. You will be on liquids which may be a challenge, you may be weak from the surgery, you may be constipated, have horrible gas and you may just feel like lying in bed. It was 2 weeks before I felt normal.

Thank-you! Well said.

I think I will give the doctors surgery a call and just ask and decide on if we go away or not. It will just be 2 hours away and it will be extremely low key as yes I will have just had surgery. I think it all may sound a little ambitious of me. Lol. I've had my gall bladder out an I've had a c-section b4 and have recovered pretty well. Hmmmm! Lol what to do? Lol maybe best to leave it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
