Band And Weight Watchers

Recommended Posts

I was banded Nov. 19 and have decided to join Weight Watchers...mainly because I would like to keep up with the weekly classes and to give me a weekly accountability. What I am not sure of is how many points I can eat as a minimum?? Anyone else have a band and do weight watchers??

To be honest in my opinion you are wasting your money. We need to eat Protein first, then vegetables then good carbs if you have room. The way I see it the whole idea of being banded is to stop all the yo yo diets, etc. and to make healthy choices. It's an awesome tool once you hit greenzone to keep us on track.

The money you have to spend on weight watchers put it away each week then have a splurge on the new clothes you'll need when you loose weight.

You would be better to spend the money on a good Bariatric nutritionist who will teach you how to eat with the band and how to fine tune your diet when you hit a hurdle.

I think you should definitely have an accountability motivator out there. That's why I started my blog. I think if you can afford WW they have some very good ideas and the support is always a good thing you get from their meetings. Just make sure you keep your band rules first and before WW rules like Summerrain said. Besides I think it would be kind of fun to get their weight loss awards.

My nurse said its ok to do ww but it is not for me. I feel it allows me too much food. I go to Jenny Craig once a week to weigh in and set a weekly goal. They dont charge me because I had already paid at some point for a lifetime membership. I know the dont have to let me come in but they are so nice in letting me. I have to be accountable in order to stay on track. Somewhere I saw a post for bands and weight watchers. Maybe you can find it.

Best of Luck to you.

WW is a great program and I think that a good plan for all the reason you point out. I started out with that idea , been on it b4 so did it online and now I don't need it. you do what makes you fill strong. also get on myfitnesspal.com and track you food u will then know what your points are also. Also ask your leader points=cal then follow the cal you doctor has told you. I was told 900-1200 but I now stay at 800 cal and a 300 cal Protein Drink on gym days.

I definitely think accountability can be a strong motivator. When I was pre op I definitely wanted to have lost weight from my previous appointment. I think it's important to understand some Weight Watchers leaders aren't going to be supportive of the lapband because they see it as a competitor to their brand.

Lap Band surgery is not a DIET. WW is. With the band you need to follow the plan your surgeon and nutritionist gave you. I have no idea how to convert that to points.
