REALLY need opinions on my fill saga--HELP!

Recommended Posts

To fill or not fill…

So I have been going back and forth on this one, and I need some objective thoughts. Sometimes I think I don’t want to get a fill because mentally I just hate the idea of eating even less. But honestly, I don’t EVER pb. Not that that is a bad thing, but I think it is weird considering how much I can eat. Now I am pretty good about chewing, and I am starting to wonder if you can feel like you never get full if the food is chewed so much that it plops right down into the big tummy right away. And man is it weird to feel it pass from one to the other!

Sometimes it amazes me how clueless I still am. :scared:

Anyway, Jessiebear’s post about her terrible pb on just a couple of bites of Mexican food really made me wonder why that stuff never happens to me no matter what I eat. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want it to per se, but I just thought a fill of 3.2 seemed like so much, and maybe it really isn’t. WOW, I am totally rambling. Did I even make any sense? I think my addiction to food is making be biased. Please, ask me questions, set me straight. Just help me figure out what I am doing! :(

LOL! Sorry! Let me clarify a few things. First of all I have 2.9cc in a 4cc band. This is really tight for me. I have to be extra special careful about chewing well, taking small bites, etc.. That day I PB'd I was really rushing myself because we were traveling. Lonnie doesn't like to stop & eat when we travel. He had rather do fast food to make better time. My Mom & Grandma were with us so we stopped. FOR EVERY MEAL. I have also come to realize that when I get upset or really emotional, my band clamps down. So all this combined is what I think made me PB so badly. I have had like 4 PBs in over 14 months of being banded.

Soooooooooo....... Do you need a fill?

Are you losing weight?

Are you eating any & everything you want & as much of it as you want?

Can you eat bread with no problem?

If you're losing, then probably not.

If you answered yes to the other 2 questions & you are not losing, then in my opinion, if it were me, I would get a fill. Even though you are at 3.2cc in a 4cc band. No restriction is no restriction. But if you don't have restriction with 3.2cc, I would ask my doc to make sure that the 3.2cc were actually in there. Some people have had leaks on here.

Okay! I rambled with you! LOL! Hope that clears things up for you!

I agree with Jess :D

(btw, your not alone in liking the amount you can eat, some times I say the same thing to myself)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
