Linze 2 Posted December 1, 2012 are you diabetic ? if not go get tested asap!!! having high blood sugars when your food intake is reduced is very odd.
acoleman380 23 Posted December 1, 2012 Is it possible since you lost some weight, you no longer need the medication for high blood sugar and taking it is making you bottom out?
Wgbem 138 Posted December 2, 2012 I was also a diabetic and a nurse. I left the hospital off meds. Blood glucose levels have been stable. I check daily, more than I did with diabetes. Are you insulin diabetic or non-insulin dependent?
MissTiffany 11 Posted December 4, 2012 So, remember that when your weight goes down your body metabolises sugars with higher efficiency which means your insulin levels decrease. If you're insulin dependent, make sure you're adjusting your doses accordingly. If you're on oral meds and are getting lows, you'll probably need to have your meds reduced, and make sure you've got some low blood sugar foods sticking around (dex 4 tabs or juice or something...sugar tabs work best because juice ends up filling the stomach. I had a hard time with lows my first week banded because my stomach couldn't handle much and I ended up using sugar tables that dissolved). Either way, sounds like you need a med adjustment.
