It didn't hurt as bad as I had anticipated. I was discharged this morning. My surgeon said my liver looked great, so my starving wasn't in vain ;-) I'm on a schedule of walk, walk, walk, SIP, SIP, SIP & sleep today. :-) Thanks to everyone who has offered kind words and advice that helped me get this far. My new journey begins!

glad you had a better time than i did. I literally just got home. spent 2.5 days in the hospital I had a lot of nausea and they didn't want to send me home in case i couldn't keep fluids in. He said he has become a bit more aggressive in stitching the band in place which causes a tighter affect. I'm just glad to be home. Glad you did well, and look forward to us all feeling a bit better than we do right now.

I did vomit yesterday. Got up too soon. Not a good feeling. Sorry it was such a nightmare for you RichGirl :-( but I'm glad you're home now! My struggle now is Water intake. Trying to get my 64 oz in is tougher than I'd ever imagine! Try to stay on top of your pain!

You're really not expected to get 64 oz the first 48 hrs. You're very swollen. 1oz every 15 mins.

Hi, I was banded yesterday, too. Incisions and gas are painful but walking feels pretty good, although I am a little slow. I have been sipping lots of Water and got 2 Protein shakes in so far. I also had some clear chicken broth. I feel very hungry, lol!

I never vomited but I had really bad nausea. I'm on Clear liquids and I had some shake and it's going ok. My first day I wasn't allowed to have anything because of my hernia repair. Of course now I'm hungry but it passes as soon as I have some tea or shake. Good luck to everyone who was banded recently.

My doc told me to drink 64 oz. So that's what I'm trying to do.

I feel so bloated. I have gas pretty bad, I keep burping and it hurts, but it makes room for me to drink more Water. :-/

Also, I think my vomiting yesterday was from the anesthesia. The nursing staff told me it was fairly normal to be nauseated and/ or vomit after surgery.

I am so afraid to throw up because I am afraid it will slip. I thought yesterday during my swallow test I would throw up but I didn't.

I got in 2 8 oz. Protein drinks, a can of chicken broth, some Jello and lots of Water. I wish I could pass some of this gas. It really hurts. My incisions are still sore. I walked 3 different times today. I know I walked more than a mile altogether but it hasn't helped with the gas yet. It does feel pretty good to stand up though.

You may not eat or drink anything after midnight on the night prior to surgery ... Ans: The procedure takes an average of one hour to perform but may vary ... On the second day, you will be consuming approximately 30 mls of Water every hour.

30mls= 1oz if anyone is interested

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
